How are you involved in agriculture?
“I have been showing horses since I was 3. Now I barrel race and compete in poles at the rodeo on my horse, Old Gray. He will turn 32 years old this spring.” McKenna won her first paycheck on Old Gray. “I will always remember him for winning my first paycheck.”
How did you prepare for Little Miss Rodeo?
McKenna won the Missouri Little Miss Rodeo title for 2012. “I ran a pattern and practiced it and my mom helped me with my speech. I modeled the dress my grandmother and mom made me and had to do an interview.” McKenna also had to find local sponsors to support her in the Little Miss Rodeo Competition. Her sponsors included Shepherd of the Hills-Case Knives and Bobby Brown of Crappie Masters.
What are your responsibilities as Little Miss Rodeo?
“I have to support rodeo and its values and lifestyle by going to different events.”
What do you like most about the rodeo?
“It’s fun. You win money and get to spend time with your horse and ride your horse.” McKenna looks forward to carrying the American flag at the rodeos.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
“I have more than one; Bailey Fugate, she barrel races and is in the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association, and Jillian Albrecht, another rodeo girl who just won Junior Miss Rodeo for 2012. When I go to events they show me what to do.”
