What is your involvement in agriculture? I have grown up on a small cow/calf operation and I started showing cattle at the age of 3. My uncle, Brent Boyce, and my brother Jackson had been showing so I grew up watching them. We attended mostly local shows but when I turned 8, we went to our very first National Junio Limousin Show & Congress. That year, it was held in Grand Island, Ne. We weren’t 100% sure what to expect but it was a great experience. Since then, we haven’t missed one yet. It is a week-long event with juniors from across the United States. Typically, there are around 500 head of cattle shown and they have a variety of different competitions and fun activities planned for the juniors. This is a week we work towards and look forward to each year.
What is your favorite part of being involved in agriculture? My favorite part is the special bond that is created with my show cattle. Each animal has its own specific and unique personality. And then, watching my show heifers calve is a favorite as well.
What are your future plans? I’m not sure what I will end up doing after high school and or college graduation but no matter what, I would like to continue farming and being involved in the agriculture industry one way or another. I come from a long line of farmers from both sides of the family and would like to carry on that tradition.
