The Mule Barn Feed and Seed

Owner:  Mike and Arlene Lipp
Location:  Hollister, Mo.

What’s the history behind the business?
“The building is 60 years old,” explained Mike. “It used to be the old Jenkins Mill and I purchased the business about a year ago, and I worked here a couple years beforehand.” Mike, Arlene and their three children work at their family business and farm near Cedar Creek, Mo.

What products and services can folks expect to find?
“We’ve got it all – hay and straw, all types of horse, cattle, goat, sheep and hog feed,” said Mike. “Plus, lawn and garden supplies, vegetable plants during the summer, garden seed, fire wood… I can go on and on.” Mike said the store also has pet supplies and he mixes wild bird seed.

How do you run your business efficiently?
“Simple, I have a policy that works. If we don’t have it in the store, we will order it for you – AND – you will get 10 percent off your purchase.”

What can customers expect when visiting your store?
“We are down home country people and try to keep our prices low and competitive,” explained Mike. “I’m a farmer myself and I love working with folks.”  Mike said since his business is close to the state lines of Arkansas and Missouri he sees a lot of folks from the region.
