What is your involvement in agriculture? My involvement in agriculture started at a very young age, ranging from helping on the ranch to helping in the show barn! It is a family affair, which my dad started himself. We run a commercial cow calf operation with a head count of over 200 as well as showing market steers. We have even started a new family tradition of producing plants, vegetables and flowers in a 30 foot by 96-foot-high tunnel. All of these things that my dad has started has become something that can pass on to the next generation of our family.
What is your favorite part of being involved in agriculture? Now I’ll be honest, it is very difficult to pinpoint my favorite part of being in agriculture, but I do have a few favorites. The relationships that you build in this industry will truly last you a lifetime. It teaches you the true meaning of responsibility and hard work. The most important factor to me is how much the Lord has an impact in our lives, and the blessings you can see every single day!
What are your future plans? I have plans to pursue the first two years of my education at Redlands Community College with my main focus on animal reproduction. The thing I am most looking forward to is having the opportunity to be on the livestock judging team. After my first two years I plan on attending Texas Tech University to continue my dream of becoming an animal embryologist and being on the livestock judging team.
Awards: I have truly been blessed in my show career and even in my livestock judging career. It is truly an honor to be able to say that I have exhibited class winners, breed and reserve champion, champion and reserve division winners and even grand and reserve champion at many local, state and national livestock shows. In my livestock judging career, I was truly blessed to be named the high individual at Big 3 field days and top ten at many more contests. None of this truly matters, buckles tarnish, banners fade but who you are as a person and your relationships is what truly matters. I feel that it’s unfair not to mention the people who got me here. My mom Carrie, my dad DJ and my sister Carrington and my great Aunt Linda, have been my rock through everything. The most important person is my Lord and savior Jesus Christ, he is my reason for living and my reason for all of my success.
