What is your involvement in agriculture? “I grew up on a pretty small farm. Chickens were my main thing, and I showed them at the county fair. As I got a little older, I started to show and raise boer goats, so it’s been a decade of boer goats for me. Now, I work in an ag- adjacent field for a company called Southwest Arkansas Poultry.
“One of the things I got to do in 4-H was called CALL Tour, which stands for Careers for Arkansas Livestock Leaders. The program teaches youth to be advocates for agriculture by teaching them public speaking skills and allowing kids to tour different agricultural facilities. There’s a lot to it, it’s a lot of fun, and it taught me a lot about being in agriculture and being a 4-H State Officer.”
What is your favorite part of being involved in agriculture/living on a farm? “My favorite part about all of it has always been getting to meet all the people. I’ve had the opportunity through 4-H and ag to meet people from all over the country, and I love getting to see the talents and things God has given them. Ag wouldn’t be anything without the people.”
What are your future plans? Do they involve agriculture in some way? “I’m planning on doing a business degree. My plan was originally to buy some cattle and raise them on some land, but I may end up being more involved on the public speaking side of things. It may be more ministry focused, but I may end up sticking with cows. I’m not sure yet.”
