Location: Fayetteville, Arkansas
Owners: Mike and Misty Turner
History: Mike has done construction his whole life but all he ever wanted was to be able to work his own land. His dad started the construction company in 1976 and Mike worked for him while growing up until he took over the business when he was just 27 years old. Mike would add things to his farm periodically working towards his goal, when finally registering the farm in May of 2019.
“We now have two high tunnels, planted to almost capacity, not to mention the plants that are outside.”
Goshen Valley Farms plans on having approximately 800 plants for this season.
“Last year we picked almost 4,500 pounds of tomatoes alone.”
Products: Along with all of the tasty vegetables grown, Goshen Valley Farms LLC also raises hogs and accesses 100% grass fed beef.
“We use a USDA processor, which allows us to be able to sell individual cuts. Our tomatoes, bacon, brats, hamburger and steaks are just some of our best sellers, not to mention our infamous freeze-dried pickles.”
Future: “In the future, we would like to install a third high tunnel for additional production. We are looking to add sheep to our livestock, this way we could raise, sell and produce lamb also for our clients.”
“Our philosophy for our farm is this: grow and raise good quality produce and meat products to be able to supply our community with a healthy and local option. We treat our animals and our land ethically while being able to make a sustainable living. That is a win/win for us and our community.”
