History: In 1973, Don and Maribelle Williams purchased a small shop in Fayetteville, Arkansas, known as Haley Equipment, marking the beginning of what would become Williams Tractor. The couple built their business on the strength of a handshake and a belief in hard work, knowing honesty and genuine service could take them far.
What began as a modest shop, soon became a cornerstone of the agriculture community. Farmers and ranchers across Northwest Arkansas learned they could count on the Williams family for dependable equipment and reliable service. As the population grew, so did Williams Tractor, expanding its customer base and developing a reputation for treating people like neighbors, not numbers.
In 2013, ownership transitioned to Gary Tollett, a member of the extended Williams family, and the company adopted its current name: WT Equipment.
Paul Williams, son of founders Don and Maribelle, said his parents never could have imagined how their small business would evolve, but they always focused on one thing, their customers.
“It was definitely a customer-oriented business,” Williams recalled. “They would do anything for people. Everyone who knew them says the same thing, they loved farmers, and that’s still what drives this business today.”
Products and Services: WT Equipment is a full-line New Holland dealership offering a wide range of agricultural, construction and turf equipment. Alongside New Holland, the company carries Hustler, Big Dog, Bobcat, Walker Mid-America, and recently added TORO as a new line in select locations.
“The livestock and hay farmers are still our bread and butter,” Tollett said. “But we’ve seen a real boom in light construction, track loaders, backhoes and the kind of machines used on job sites. There’s a niche for us there, and we’ve also grown tremendously in mower sales.”
Beyond sales, WT Equipment prides itself on its parts and service departments.
“Our goal is always to keep people running,” Tollett said. “We understand downtime costs money, whether it is planting season, hay season, or mowing season. That’s why we invest in good people and good service.”
Philosophy and Goal for the Future: Although WT Equipment has become a major regional dealership network, the company continues to operate with the values that Don and Maribelle Williams instilled more than 50 years ago: respect, honesty and a genuine commitment to the farming community.
“We’re a family-oriented business,” Tollett said. “We really value family above all else, and we want to create a workplace that reflects that. It’s about teamwork, and making sure everyone, employees and customers, feels valued.”
