• 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

• 2 Tbsp bacon drippings

• 2 Tbsp vegetable oil

• 1/4 C flour

• 2 1/2 C chicken broth

• 2 packages (10 ounces each) frozen green peas, thawed

• 2 small onions, sliced

• 2 tsp dried parsley flakes

• 1/2 tsp salt

• 1/4 tsp pepper

Combine bacon drippings and Crisco in a large saucepan. Sit in flour. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly for three to four minutes. Gradually stir in broth, heat to a boil. Add remaining ingredients and return to a boil. Cover and reduce heat. Simmer, stirring occasionally to break apart peas, for about 20 minutes or until onions are tender. Sprinkle with crumbled bacon before serving.
