• 1 pound breakfast sausage

• Chopped red pepper and chopped green onion, to taste

• 8 ounces cream cheese

• Crescent dough sheets or crescent roll dough

Brown the sausage in a large skillet, breaking it up completely, then add chopped red peppers and green onions and cook another 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add cream cheese, allowing the residual heat to melt the cream cheese. When sausage mix has cooled, spread it over crescent dough squares, almost to the edges. Roll up into tubes and place in freezer for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove and cut each roll into six slices, much like cutting cinnamon rolls. Place on parchment paper and bake in a 350-degree oven for approximately 15 minutes or until browned. The peppers and green onions also make a very pretty Christmas breakfast appetizer. Note: If crescent dough sheets are not available, crescent roll dough can be used, but don’t separate into triangles, but leave in full squares.
