2 pounds hash browns, thawed

1/4 C onions, chopped

3/4 C butter, melted and divided

1/4 tsp pepper

1 tsp salt

1 can cream of chicken soup, undiluted

1 8-ounce container sour cream

1 C shredded cheese


Mix all ingredients except for 1/4 C of butter. Grease a 13-by-9 pan and spread mixture into pan. Pour remaining melted butter over the mixture in pan. Bake at 350 degrees, covered with foil, for 30 minutes. Then uncover and bake another 30 minutes.
