INGREDIENTS:
1 C butter at room temperature
3 C flour unsifted
1 C sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp baking powder
Glaze
3 C powdered sugar
1 Tbsp vanilla
Water (amount depends upon humidity and temperature: you need enough water so that the glaze will stick but not be too thick)
DIRECTIONS:
Using a mixer, cream butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Then add the remaining ingredients and mix until dough consistency. Chill at least one hour before rolling and cutting into 2 inch circles. Bake at 325 degrees for 10 minutes. Allow to cool before applying glaze. Decorate as desired. Makes 3 to 4 dozen.
