What is your off-the-farm job/career? “I am the medical coding manager for a rural healthcare system in west central Missouri. I have a background in health informatics and have been in the healthcare field since I was a teen. I am passionate about rural healthcare and preserving it for our communities.”
On the Farm: “Our family shares a small combined hobby farm of 20 acres. We have raised goats (meat and dairy), turkeys, chickens (meat and egg) and even some rabbits over the years. We are a multigenerational 4-H family and enjoy highlighting the small animals in agriculture.
“I am also the leader of the Osage River 4-H Club in Taberville, Mo. Our club is a mix of small town and farm kids with youth that are involved in many different types of projects.”
What do you enjoy most about being a farmer/rancher? “The animals themselves, they will always give you some great stories to tell with your friends and family.
“I also enjoy my time working with the youth in our area with their 4-H projects. We also combine many community events and activities with our club and it is great to see the support we have in our rural area.”
