In town: Laney works at the Fairland Veterinary Hospital as the Marketing, social media and IT Coordinator.

She is also the owner of Wild West Photography, established in 2021 and rebranded to its current name in 2023. What started out as a hobby taking photos of her Simmental cattle in the pasture turned into a passion for capturing the hard work and dedication of those involved in the livestock industry. While still in high school, Laney had the opportunity to intern with Ag Youth Magazine at the Oklahoma Youth Expo and through this internship, she gained valuable hands-on experience photographing livestock shows and working in the agriculture media industry.

After completing her degree in Ag communications and Agribusiness at Oklahoma State University in 2025, Laney returned home to help on her family farm and to focus on continuing to grow her business.

In the Country: On the family’s Simmental-based operation named Wild Rose Cattle Co., Laney assists with the daily feeding, herd health checks, general cattle management as well as breeding preparation alongside her dad.

“I am also involved in show preparation, including fitting, clipping and getting cattle ready for exhibitions. I primarily work with our show animals, which includes daily hair care, feeding and practicing showmanship.” Laney continued, “My dad assists with pre-clipping at home and fitting at shows.”

Along with her work on the family farm and the animal hospital, Laney has branched out from her photography business to include graphic design work such as sale ads, social media graphics and promotional materials. She offers custom banners and personalized engraved products such as livestock ear tags, key chains, leather patches, awards and other personalized items.

What do you enjoy most about living on a farm? “What I enjoy most about living on a farm is the opportunity to be involved in an industry that values hard work, responsibility and family involvement. Growing up in agriculture has allowed me to develop a strong work ethic while building relationships within the livestock community.

“I especially enjoy being able to combine my involvement in our cattle operation with my photography business to support other exhibitors and agriculture families. I have also always enjoyed helping with calving season and watching the new calves grow and develop in the pasture.”
