Hometown: Fordland, Webster County, Mo.

Family Members: Jolene, Wife; Sophia, Jersie and Joplyn, daughters

In Town: “I am a fabricator, stainless steel welder at Custom Metal Craft in Springfield, Missouri. I started out in life as a plumber and pipe fitter, but now I weld on big stainless-steel tanks.”

In the County: “We began our herd with five head of cattle that we bought thirteen years go and a registered Angus bull. We now have a little over fifty head with a registered Gelbvieh bull. All the cows here were born and raised on this farm by me, my wife and daughters.”

Justin and his wife Jolene, have about 74 acres that they run their cattle on that was originally purchased by his grandfather in 1965.

“I believe like most farmers; we are hoping to make it into a century farm.”

They also rent approximately 190 acres from their uncle and cut that property for hay. That same land used to belong to their late Uncle and Aunt who owned the land from 1970 to 2024.

Justin and his wife enjoy the quiet county life raising their girls to appreciate and enjoy their surroundings. When asked what he enjoys most about the farm life, Justin says;

“The sound of the cattle chomping on grass when you turn them out. When the new calves hit the ground. Getting to teach and show the next generation the knowledge I have learned and was taught over the years.”
