In Town: “I am a direct support professional for Arc of the Ozarks. I provide daily support for disabled clients with their daily living needs who are living in their own homes. The Direct Support Professional is the bridge between people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their communities. I encourage and mentor individuals by supporting them in maximizing their full potential. The DSP role is involved in providing support to all aspects of individuals life activities. Support may include daily life skills of cooking, cleaning, hygiene, medication administration, behavioral care, and community participation.”
In the Country: “My family and I live on 7 acres and currently have 10 head of Nigerian Dwarf goats that we raise for pets and meat. We do not show them but we enjoy having them around to help keep our field cleaned up of brush and weeds. We also have 30 chickens, no specific breed, just a random backyard mix. We love getting a rainbow mix of color in our eggs and we currently sell farm fresh eggs at our roadside stand.
“Our goats are fed a free choice mixed grass hay and pasture, plus Purina Goat & Kid grain once a day. The chickens are fed a free choice mixture of scratch grains and layer pellets and a flock maker crumble.
“We really enjoy seeing all of the baby goats run around and all of the different egg colors our hens come up with.”
