In Town: I work as the Program Assistant for the Ottawa County OSU Extension office in Miami, Ok. I am the assistant of three educators in Ottawa County. I help with education programs and activities in Agriculture, Family and Consumer Sciences, Rural Development and 4-H Youth Development. My position allows me to give back to the community. It also gives me the opportunity to volunteer as a 4-H leader for the Ottawa County Horse Club, Ottawa County Shooting Sports Club, and as the Quapaw 4-H leader.
In the Country: I run Gator Acres Equine outside of my Extension career. I train horses and give riding lessons. I work with ages 5 & up and Beginner and Intermediate riding levels. I enjoy training ponies and youth rodeo horses the most but train all kinds of horses. I will work with problematic horses and do conditioning training. I have worked with western, English and racing horses. I market my business on Facebook and through word of mouth. I currently rent my training facility but hope to buy my own or build my own in the future.
I have also a small start to a goat herd. I plan to raise goats to contract out to rodeos and goat roping events. I am eager to see where the future will take my business!
I enjoy sharing my experiences and knowledge with youth. It is what drives me to continue. Our youth will run the world someday and it is up to us to set them up for success in all circumstances. It is important to create problem-solving skills and not direct answers for everything.
