Three generations of women dedicated to family traditions and a strong heritage

It was Linda’s parents, and grandparents before them, that instilled in her a love for rural life. She was fortunate enough to grow up where crops, hay, and Angus were abundant.

From a young age, Linda was involved in 4-H and eventually developed her own herd after learning about breeding from her family’s Angus operation.

Over the years, that herd has grown and changed to become a successful family-owned business.

A typical day on Our Place Angus is never monotonous, Linda said. Her and Zoë take care of the basic chores of feeding, checking cows, and tagging calves. Zoë is also involved in her local 4-H chapter.

While Minnie works off the farm most of the time, Linda said she plays a vital role in making sure everything gets done and despite being busy, Minnie finds the time to be on the farm at some point every day and on weekends. Minnie and Zoë keep on top of halter breaking cattle for show and sale.

To keep the farm running smoothly, duties are split between the three women, making sure everything is taken care of whether breeding cattle, delivering bulls, or moving hay.

They pride themselves on selling more than just a product; they strive to meet the needs of those seeking to start their own herd or improve their existing one.

“Our goal is to provide solid genetics focused on creating profitability and try to offer as much information as possible on our cattle,” Linda said.

Their website puts their mission best. “Working diligently to provide seedstock animals that are reflective of the heart and soul of our livelihood, we proudly recognize that some of our finest genetics are deeply rooted in 10+ generations of Angus produced within the family herd.”

She hopes customers find the bull or cow that will increase their profits, whether through easy calving, heavier weaning weights, increased milking ability, longevity, or whatever else they need.

And often enough, these interactions mean more than a sale.

“We enjoy meeting new people,” Linda said. “While we may meet them as customers, we’re especially privileged when customers become our friends.”

Our Place Angus is a family endeavor, and they do their best to give back to their agriculture community, supporting local FFA and 4-H chapters, community projects, and surrounding livestock shows and events.

Looking to the future, Linda said she hopes they can continue to improve the quality of their herd and improve the productivity of the land they are blessed to occupy.

“We’re thankful for what we have and are privileged to have the opportunity to develop lasting relationships with others who share our enthusiasm and put their trust in our program,” Linda said.

Together, grandmother, mother, and daughter have built something they’re proud of. Linda said seeing Zoë succeed in the show ring with cattle she bred herself is a testament to what their operation is all about.

Our Place Angus is more than a business; it’s a farm embedded with family traditions and a strong heritage.

“I don’t think it’s about creating a legacy,” Linda said. “It’s more about family around here.”
