• 2 1/2 C sourdough starter

• 2 1/2 C buttermilk 

• 2 1/2 C flour 

• 2 tsp baking powder

• 1 tsp baking soda

• 2 Tbsp sugar

• 3/4 C shortening 

Mix sourdough starter, buttermilk and flour throughly. In a separate bowl combine baking powder, baking soda, sugar and mix to combine. Cut in 3/4 C shortening. Make a well in in the flour and add sourdough and mix well. Dough should be just dry enough to handle. Add flour to hands and pat out to about 3/4-inch thick. Add oil to preheated oven, cut biscuits with a biscuit cutter, dip in oil and turn over to coat both sides. Crowd into a 14-inch Dutch oven. Should make 28 to 30 biscuits. Lid needs preheating also.
