• 1 C sugar
• 1/8 tsp salt
• 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1/2 C buttermilk
• 1 Tbsp butter
• 1/2 tsp maple flavoring
• 1 C chopped nuts (walnuts are best)
Combine sugar, salt, baking soda and buttermilk in a heavy pan or iron skillet. Cook over medium heat to 236 degrees or soft ball stage. Stir frequently to prevent burring or boiling over. Remove from heat and add butter, maple flavoring and nuts. Beat until thick and creamy. Drop teaspoons full onto way paper lined pans. Cool and enjoy.
