Atwoods

Owner:  Wilbur and Fern Atwood
President:  Brian Atwood
Manager:  Kevin Helm (pictured)
Location:  Claremore, Okla.

History:  “The business started in 1961 when Wilbur and Fern Atwood drove through a blizzard on New Year’s Day to Enid, Okla., to start a discount farm, home and auto supplies store. Now Atwoods has 50 stores in Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas and Texas. My location in Claremore, Okla., opened for business in 1992. I moved here from Texas and have been a manager at this location for the last three years,” said Kevin Helm.

Products and Services:  “The business is farm-centered but also seeks to meet many of the home needs of farmers so they often have a one stop shopping trip. We try to meet all of the requirements for smaller equipment and parts. We offer light-weight lawn equipment and a range of tillers to brush hogs, rakes and box blades. We also have our own feed brand, which includes puppy food, cattle blocks and a full line of grain. The fencing department has a wide variety of products including 2-point barbed wire, full-sized arena panels and cattle panels. We also sell utility and cargo trailers. Finally, we complement the farming products with everything from clothing and nursery items to basic foods and snacks,” explained Kevin.

Philosophy:  “We believe that if we take care of the customer, the customer will take care of us. We want to do more than just serve the community but strive to be a vital part of it,” said Kevin.
