Name:  Avery Cook
Parent:  Angela Cook
Hometown:  Dover, Ark.

What clubs do you belong to?
“I belong to the 4-H cattle club and FBLA at school,” said Avery.

Have you won any awards?
“Yes,” smiled Avery, “this past year at the state fair I took Grand Champion in my Sr. Division. In the last four years, I have won a lot of purple ribbons and Grand Champions. I also made honor roll at school.”

Who are you role models?
“My mom is my main role model and Ray Gack.”

Why do you show?
Avery said, “I show cattle in honor of Ray’s son, Brian, who got killed in a car accident. Ray came to me and asked if I wanted to show cattle, I did and I just love it. So I show cattle in honor of Brian.”

What advice can you give to younger students wanting to get started in showing?
“Well, I would suggest they get into 4-H and to not be afraid, if something bad happens just keep going, it will get better.”

Do you plan to stay in agriculture?
“Yes,” replied Avery, “I am working toward a scholarship. I always want to farm but I would like to be a surgeon.”
