What awards have you received?
Austin is a very accomplished young man in the fact that he won the State Record Book Award, his first year out. Also, he has won state titles for oral demonstrations for the FCCLA and FBLA.
Who are your role models?
“My mother and my grandmother who is a livestock reporter for the state of Arkansas, also my great grandfather was very influential in getting me to this point,” said Austin. “I can remember being just a little kid and wanting to go help my great grandfather feed the cattle.”

Do you plan to stay in agriculture?
“Yes, I plan on going to U of A, then to Oklahoma State for vet school. I would like to incorporate teaching kids into what I do as a vet, when that time comes. And payback some of the help I have gotten on my way up.”

What would you tell the younger ones about getting started?
“My suggestion to the younger generation would be, to make sure you like taking care of the animals, and you enjoy what you are doing,” said Austin.
