Tell us about your family’s farm.
“We have about 100 head of registered Polled Herefords, and my family has been in the Hereford business since 1961. I just fell into the footsteps of my father and grandfather and I myself have about 20 cows in production,” said Cheyenne. “I have experienced success in showing my cattle on the local, state and national levels, with particular success in the bred and owned division which makes me the proudest. Having the ability to raise my own quality show calves is something that I take much pride in.”
You recently were awarded a special award, tell us about it.
“I was honored by receiving an all expenses paid scholarship to attend Northeastern Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College (NEO). After getting my associates degree in Animal Science from NEO I plan on transferring to the University of Arkansas where I would like to earn my PhD in animal breeding and genetics.”
What have you learned through FFA and 4-H?
“FFA and 4-H have definitely taught me a lot about morals, values and lessons,” she said, “probably the most important would be hard work.”
