Basic recipe
Ingredients:
2 1/2 sticks butter
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 C. dark brown sugar, packed
1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 C. white sugar
1 tsp salt
1 egg
1/4 tsp. nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 C. old-fashioned oats
1 1/2 C. all-purpose flour
Directions:
Cream the butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Then add and mix in the egg and vanilla. Add and mix the remaining ingredients. Place rounded tablespoons on a cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.
Apple Cinnamon:
Peel and dice Granny Smith apples. Then toss in lemon juice. 1 C. per recipe
Cranberry Walnut:
Add 1 C. each of cranberries and walnuts.
Cowboy:
Everything your family likes such as chips, cranberries, raisins, pecans cashews etc., with 1 C. each for each recipe.
Ice Cream Sandwich:
Fill with vanilla ice cream or other favorite flavor and freeze for a summer treat.
