Hubbs Animal Clinic

Owners:  David Ford (pictured) along with Randy Hubbs and Jarrod English
Location:  Van Buren, Ark.

History:  David said, “The business began as a family practice in the ‘50s. Randy is part of the founding family and has been here since the ‘70s while Jarrod is our newest partner joining in 2010. I became a partner in 1996. I grew up nearby and wanted to get closer to home after practicing in Kansas. The business is always changing and used to be 50 percent small animal and 50 percent large animal. Consumer demand has changed to where now only 20 percent is for the larger animals. Part of being in business is adapting to the economic climate and changes in the consumer base.”

Services:  “We offer a broad spectrum of services. Our large animal services focus on herd health management including vaccinating, deworming, castrating, dehorning and counseling as needed in individual situations. We work with reproductive health including ultrasound, AI and embryo transplant as well as reproductive fertility testing on bulls. We also treat prolapses, sicknesses which are usually respiratory in nature, and a few injuries.

Philosophy:  “Like any good business, we try to give quality services at affordable costs. In our case that’s offering comprehensive healthcare for animals. We try to stay up with new technologies and drugs so that our customers get the best and most up-to-date care whether their animals are dogs or cows. We try to focus on preventive medicine because that not only produces a healthier animal but also saves the customer money in the long run.”
