In Town: “I service and install water wells for Rains Pump Service out of Sparta, Mo. After hours, my buddy Austin Rains and I have started a side gig knows as ‘Load Em’ in the Dark Cattle Catching’.
“We both love to rope and we are always on horses. We would get a call from a farmer about a wild cow, mean bull or even a calf they couldn’t catch that needed doctoring. After a few calls, we decided we would just make a post about catching, hauling, doctoring, or anything we can do to help any farmers or ranchers. It didn’t take long until we would end up with calls and we sure are thankful for it.
“Nothing is too big or wild for us, we will help with anything.”
In the Country: “Me and my dad have always been in the cattle. We started out years ago buying a group of Longhorn cows, all bred. We calved them out and we ran them with a Charolais bull to start breeding the Longhorn out of them. After that we slowly started buying more sold colored beef cows and would keep heifers back to breed.
“With our place and some rent places, we have close to 300-400 acres. We also will sell some hay on the side when we have extra. I’ve always wanted to build up a big enough operation where I can work on it full time.
“We plan to keep slowly growing our herd with hopes to keep the family farm going through me and my brothers and our kids in the future.
“I also have around 5-7 head of ranch/rope horses that I rodeo and use around the farm.”
What do you enjoy most about living on a farm? “I’ve always had a love for it, just being around cattle and horses. I have always had a sweet spot for being around any of it whether it’s my stuff or another farmer, just having a hand in it and being around it has been a great pleasure. Being around some of the old-time farmers and hanging around them can always be a good time but you just never know what they will get you into.
“I enjoy just being around the different people and getting away from the world, it’s a great get away.”
