Set Breeding Start Date
Make sure your heat detection plan or synchronization protocol lines up with your schedule. Make sure you have all of the products needed for heat detection and breeding; CIDRs, hormone drugs, AI sleeves, gloves, etc.
Check Semen Inventory
Confirm you have enough straws of your selected sires and that they are stored properly in a charged tank. Order any semen in plenty of time to arrive before needed.

Heifer/Cow Body Condition Scores
Thin cattle equal low conception rates. Aim for a BCS of 5-6 for cows and 6-7 for heifers.

Get your herd on a health program before breeding. A good mineral program improves conception and reduces early embryo loss.
