History: After a stint in the military, Tim Champlin and his brother Greg Champlin bought a semi and Champlin Trucking began hauling feed. Then in 1999, the brothers started Trade Comm LLC. What began with one truck has now grown to 12+ trucks serving customers.

Trade Comm operated a feed mill in Rich Hill, Mo.,  producing blended feed for a while, but then in 2022 leased the mill to another company which services the pet food industry.

Tim Champlin and Randy Parsons were business associates and friends for 18 years and then in September 2023, they became business partners and now Tim and Randy own Trade Comm LLC.

Today, Trade Comm services customers in Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska. Products are typically sourced in Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas, but Tim and Randy said they would go “anywhere” to source whatever their customers need.

Products and Services: Trade Comm sources commodities/ingredients directly from the suppliers/plants and delivers bulk commodities/ingredients to their customers.

“We view ourselves as a service company, Our customers are leaning on us to provide what they need so that they can focus on running their own businesses.

Randy added if a customer needs a specific product, Trade Comm knows where to source most products and at the best quality and price.  Most commodities/ingredients go to cattle feeding facilities, such as backgrounding facilities, feedlots, dairy’s, feed mills, with some going to food and pet food manufacturers.

Commodities available include but are not limited to, wet gluten, soy hulls, soy hull pellets, whole corn and ground corn, wet and dry distillers, protein pellets, walnut meal, corn meal and other food and feed grade products, even including poultry litter for fertilizer applications.

Future plans: Trade Comm customers have expressed a need and an interest in a “transloading operation,” being rail to truck and truck to rail.

Randy and Tim said they are in the early stages of this process and are planning to move forward with providing this service.

Business Philosophy: Trade Comm has built its reputation upon providing high-quality service and products, and Tim and Randy strive to uphold that reputation.

Tim and Randy are the face of the company. “We are out talking with customers and building those relationships. In our world, relationships are a key part of our business. We want our customers to know who they are choosing to do business with.”
