Ingredients:
10 C. squash, do not peel
4 C. onions
1 red pepper or one jar pimento
6 C. sugar
5 Tbsp. salt
2 1/2 C. vinegar
1 tsp. turmeric
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 Tbsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. powder alum
2 Tbsp. corn starch (to be added last)
Directions:
Chop squash into small pieces, as well as the onions and pepper. Mix with vinegar, sugar and other spices. Boil for 5 minutes. Add corn starch and cook for 2 more minutes. Put into jars and seal.
