The Missouri Dairy Association (MDA) and the Missouri Department of Agriculture are celebrating June Dairy Month with a farm and plant tour of Ozark Mountain Creamery at Mountain Grove on Friday June 17.

The tour starts at 10 a.m. at the Creamery followed by a luncheon at the Mountain Grove fairgrounds.

The luncheon is sponsored by FCS Financial, Midwest Dairy Association, Rodgers Feed Company, S&H Farm Supply, Progressive Bank, Wright County Farm Bureau Board, Wright County Farm Bureau Insurance, State Farm, Legacy Bank, Shelter Insurance, MFA Inc. and the Mountain Grove Vet Clinic.

The June Dairy Month statewide proclamation from Governor Nixon will be presented at the fairgrounds by Loyd Wilson, Deputy Director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture.

The Governor’s proclamation reads that “the production, processing and distribution of dairy products creates over 24,000 jobs in Missouri and dairy-related employment provides over $1.2 billion in Missouri labor income.

“Furthermore, the Missouri dairy industry has an economic impact of over $8.5 billion and dairy products are a source of calcium, protein and other nutrients that are essential to a healthy diet.”

Several special guests including elected leaders and candidates will make additional remarks.

“MDA is pleased to receive this recognition,” says MDA President Ted Sheppard, a dairy farmer from Cabool.  It’s only fitting that we meet at Ozark Mountain Creamery to see the on farm processing of today’s dairy.  They are one of a handful in Missouri who are processing their own milk.

“We anticipate a crowd of over 75 dairy leaders, industry representatives, state and national elected officials along with several candidates to attend Friday’s celebration.”

MDA is an organization of dairy producers, committed to promote, protect and enhance the Missouri dairy industry by working to insure the profitability of dairy produce

Ozark Mountain Creamery is at 3350 Peach Corner Drive, Mountain Grove, MO  65711 ph. 417/926-3276.
