Calvin and Melia Tackett
In Town: Calvin said, “I have worked as an insurance agent for Farm Bureau for 30 years on Wedington Drive in Fayetteville, Ark. I like people and helping others.”
Melia added, “I have been a kindergarten teacher at West Fork for 21 years. I love to watch how the children grow and learn and how excited they are to learn. Because we live a ways out of town, we organize our time and trips.”
In the Country: “I love to watch the sun rise without having any houses around so that all I see is countryside,” said Calvin. “I love working with my cattle. My kids also get to see things born and die which is important because that is what life is all about. Time is short and you need to make the most of what you have with the time you have. I am grateful for my good neighbors who are always willing to help.”
Melia smiled and said, “It’s easy for us to get outside, work and have fun together. We feed the catfish and pick up rocks. Country life is family life.”
How does your country and town life work together?
Calvin said, “There is no way for us to support a family and send the kids to college on small acreage. The town life allows us to have the family and personal life we want.”
