Poynter Concrete

Owner:  Donald Poynter
Location:  Historic Route 66, Lebanon, Mo.
History:  Poynter Concrete has been in business outside of Lebanon, Mo., for five years. “We invested our savings, bought this land and the shop then started working for myself after working for someone else for 12 years,” explained Donald.

What products do you offer?
“We make a variety of concrete agricultural products but a good portion of our business is custom products. We make five types of feed bunks – J bunks, silage bunks, small bunks, open-end bunks and close-end bunks. We also make two kinds of cattle waterers – single-sided and double-sided with the option of including a Walters Ice Preventer. We also make spring boxes for spring or river development. All of our products are reinforced with metal and fiber to make sure our customers are getting the best product for their money.”

What makes your business a success?
“We are extremely competitive. Our competition makes exceptional products, so we must too. But the main reason I am still in business is because of loyal customers. We have a lot of repeat business. Plus location helps. We get a lot of business from people seeing the shop from the interstate.”

Future plans:  “Expansion is our number one priority right now. We want to take care of our customers the best we can by providing better services, in order to do that we need to expand. We want to add on to the shop, put in an overhead hoist and purchase more delivery trucks.”
