Names:  Tim and Pamela Massey

In Town:  Tim owns Twin Lakes Drywall Incorporated, located in Mountain Home, Ark. “Twin Lakes is a turnkey drywall operation. We provide everything from the material to the cleanup. When we leave, the house is ready for paint.”  They have 12 employees and operate all over north central Arkansas and southern Missouri. The business can do everything from storm damage to remodels and new construction.

In the Country:  Tim has a cow/calf operation with 47 head, mostly registered Angus. Their ranch is located in Marion County near Oakland, Ark. There are 200 acres on the main ranch, with another 40 acres of leased pasture. Tim puts up his own hay, with the help of neighbors. The newest edition to their ranch is a registered Angus bull and three Angus cows. Tim said, “When things settle down, I’d like to try to breed some Brangus.”

How do you balance the farm and the job?
“Lots of long hours and with the help of my wife, Pam. Even though she has a job in town as administrator of the Mountain Home Assembly of God Church, she helps with the business end of the drywall company and is a real help working the cattle.” Tim also explained that he’s able to work the cattle efficiently with the time he has because of good working pens and chutes.

Why do you continue to farm?
Tim said that he was raised on a farm and that’s all he’s ever known. He enjoys it so much and he considers it “part of my heritage.” He also said that farming allows him to provide beef for himself and his grown kids.
