In Town: “Prior to my current career, I worked as an administrator in senior living for over 35 years in Kansas.” Ginger said. “I retired almost 2 years ago from that and am now a full-time real estate agent in Missouri and Kansas for Stuteman’s Action Realty. I serve primarily four counties, but I will do whatever it takes for my clients, so I travel further, if needed to help them meet their goals.

“In this role, I get to meet many new people and help them with the next transition of their life, whether it be selling a home and farm, or purchasing such. It’s so gratifying to see first-hand the positive impact that I can make through this process, and I love helping others who have a desire to live on a farm, bring that to fruition.”

In the Country: “My husband and I own approximately 160 acres where our home is, and we rent additional acreage as well. We have a commercial cow-calf operation and have around 125 head of mostly Angus, Sim-Angus, and Gelbvieh Balancers. We sell calves twice a year however, we raise bulls for breeding, and we sell those through private sales off the farm. We also keep back a few of the best heifers each year and rotate the older cows out of the herd. I am a competitive person by nature and for fun I have my herd of 25 cows and my husband has his herd. We like to see whose calves are bigger at weaning and sale time. I also pick my own bull for my herd, and I am partial to black white face cows so I have tried to make that my specialty.

“The goal is always to have healthy stock and continue to improve the quality of our herd. Our desire is to purchase more acreage, as time goes, to continue to grow our operation. In the end though, we know that we are SO blessed, and we just simply try to run our operation in a way that we can be a blessing to those around us as well.”

What do you enjoy most about being a farmer/rancher? “Being a farmer is a way of life that I would not trade for the world! I grew up on a farm and am a row cropper’s daughter. My husband grew up on a ranch as well and the values of farm life stay with me in everything I do. Work hard, long days and ALWAYS be trustworthy and kind to others.

“The thing I love most is the love of the outdoors. I love watching baby calves in the spring as they buck, kick, run and play. The view from my home office window looks out over our herd and it fills my heart every day as I see how beautiful they are! I just wish everyone could experience farm life!”
