History: Thirty-nine years ago, John Sellmeyer and his wife Julia began their business in a shop on the same property as their home. John had graduated Afton High School in 1977, and later completed a certification from Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in mowing and diesel tech in 1980. John then got a job working as a diesel technician Tulsa Farm Equipment, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After five years, he set out on his own, and started John’s Tractor Works & Equipment. Due to their continued business success, in 1998, they were able to purchase a property on Highway 60 in Vinita, and in 1999 they moved into their brand-new facility, which they had built from the ground up. They later expanded to include a new location, 4 Season’s Ag & Lawn, in Oologah, Okla., which offers a similar range of products to their original location.
Products and Services: John’s Tractor Works began as a diesel service shop and has now expanded to include four service technicians. They continue to offer service for a wide array of machinery to-day, including generators, tractors, and chainsaws. They also service a variety of lawn equipment. They offer mower service, including push mowers, lawn tractors and zero-turns, as well as trimmer service.
At John’s, they pride themselves on their ability to offer a wide variety of brands and equipment that can serve any customer’s needs. One area of distinction is their quality tractor parts.
They also sell many types of new and used equipment. They offer Kioti and McCormick tractors. To go alongside their tractors, they offer Kuhn hay equipment, including balers, tillers,and hay mowers.
John’s also offer grass management equipment including Bush Hog rotary cutters, rakes and scrapers. Additionally offering smaller lawn equipment such as Walker and Bobcat zero-turn mowers. They also offer miscellaneous equipment, including rock augers, tractor attachments, drills, seeders, trenchers and much more. Their sheer variety allows them to pride themselves on the quality and diverse range that they offer to serve their customers. Another point of pride is their expansion into the world of compact construction equipment. They recently began dealing skid steers and they are hoping to expand into carrying excavators in the next two to three years.
In their long run, John’s has been the recipient of several awards, including the Kioti 5 Paw Dealer award, which focuses on five evaluation areas: sales, service, customer satisfaction and issue resolution, and facility appearance. This is a prestigious achievement for Kioti dealers and speaks to the work that all the staff at John’s put in to give their customers a quality product.
