Learn what it takes to grow fresh produce for a local farmers market. Oklahoma Grown Farmers Markets need more producers to meet increased demand for locally grown fruits and vegetables.
The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry (ODAFF) Farmers Market Program is hosting a workshop where local and state specialists will discuss the opportunities for producing and selling fruits and vegetables at farmers markets. The workshop will be March 3 from 6-8 p.m. at Territory Cellars, 1521 N. Highway 99, in Stroud. Presentations will be given on plasticulture farming, hoop house use and tips for selling at a farmers market.
Registration is $10 and includes all workshop materials and dinner. The registration deadline is Feb. 24. To register, call Justin Whitmore, ODAFF Farmers Market Coordinator, at 405-522-6194.
