Farmers in southwest Missouri are invited to attend the 87th Annual Lawrence County Soils and Crops Conference from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Jan. 6 at the Southwest Research and Education Center located on State Highway H, southwest of Mt. Vernon, Mo.
The planning committee, made up of Lawrence County farmers, has planned some topics that should be of interest to both livestock and crop producers according to Tim Schnakenberg, a University of Missouri Extension agronomy specialist headquartered in Galena.
“Topics this year will cover trends in high tech agriculture, strategies for successful corn production and a discussion on the economics of using alfalfa on the farm,” said Schnakenberg.
There is no charge to attend the conference but reservations are needed by Jan. 4 in order to have enough food available. For to reserve a meal, call the Lawrence County Extension Center at 417-466-3102.
