What is your involvement in agriculture?
I live on a small homestead and raise a herd of registered Nubinans along with chickens, turkeys, cattle and registered German Shepherds. I do all the day to day farm chores in caring for these animals, including vetting and milking. Last year I began showing Nubians at the Washington county and State Fair in Arkansas and Missouri. This was a great opportunity; I met some great farmers who shared great information at these fairs.
I also compete in 4-H competitions like Beef Quiz Bowl, Horse Judging, Livestock Skills and many more to further my knowledge and skills in agriculture.
What is your favorite part of being involved in agriculture?
One of my favorite things about farming is being able to work outside with all the animals. As you never know what the day will bring. Some days are peaceful and some you can’t wait to end. The nice thing is you will never get bored as there is always something to do on the farm.
What are your future plans?
I might get married if I can trick some poor guy into marrying a farm girl. I would like to own a small farm to generate income while keeping registered Nubians and other farm animals. I would also like to improve my breeding lines and watch how the genetic traits are passed on.
