• 1 1/2 C butter, softened

• 2 C sugar

• 4 eggs

• 1 tsp vanilla extract

• 5 C all-purpose flour

• 2 tsp baking powder

• 1 tsp salt


In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Cover for at least one hour or overnight. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. On a floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4- to 1/2- inch thick. Using a cookie cutter, cut into heart-shaped cookies. Place cookies 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 6 to 8 minutes. Allow to cool completely.
