The student chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) at Oklahoma State University received the IIE Gold Chapter Award for the 2013-2014 school year at its conference in Montreal, Canada.
The 2013-2014 officers at OSU, during the designated award period, were Kaitlin Krause, president; Ian Giese, vice-president; Morgan Reiner, treasurer; Claire Van Beek, secretary; Ann Meister, events coordinator; Monik Shah, public relations; Kaitlin Kliewer, public relations; Carly Reaves, student council representative; and Dr. Baski, faculty adviser.
Industrial engineers work in manufacturing and service industries including the entertainment industry, in shipping and logistics, and healthcare organizations.
“Our chapter hosts information sessions during the career fairs and takes students on field trips to organizations that use industrial engineering in their facilities,” said Ian Giese, the current chapter president. “We also have social events involving students and professors each semester.”
Anyone is welcome to join the IIE chapter and the benefits of membership don’t have to stop after graduation. “Our chapter is the stepping stone to being involved in professional level chapters during a career,” Giese said. “We promote the profession to everyone who is interested.”
