COLUMBIA, Mo. – Researchers will present the results of long-term studies on cover crops, bioenergy and sustainable production at the Goodwater Field Day, Friday, Sept. 5. The event begins at 10 a.m. at a USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) research plot near Centralia.

University of Missouri Extension natural resource engineer Kent Shannon said speakers will present 20 years of cover crop research. Topics include yield data maps, cover crop mixes, water quality, herbicide rotation effects, national trends and cover crop benefits. The program includes wagon and walking tours.

MU Extension, Lincoln University, USDA-ARS and the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program sponsor the free event and lunch. Call the MU Extension Center in Audrain County at 573-581-3231 by Sept. 3.
