The Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences is proud to announce the appointment of two new endowed positions at the veterinary center.  Melanie Boileau, DVM, MS, DACVIM, is named the McCasland Clinical Professor at the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences and Todd Holbrook, DVM, DACVIM, DACVSMR, is named the June Jacobs Endowed Chair in Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Boileau’s professorship is endowed by the McCasland Foundation.  An associate professor and the food animal section chief at OSU’s Veterinary Medical Hospital, Boileau earned her DVM degree at the University of Montreal, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.  She is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) – Large Animal.  Dr. Boileau’s research focuses on non-antimicrobial treatment alternative for infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (pinkeye) using predatory bacteria Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus and management of bovine dystocia using tocolytic drugs.

Dr. Holbrook’s chair is endowed by Jack Jacobs in memory of his wife June who loved horses.  An associate professor and the equine section chief at OSU’s Veterinary Medical Hospital, Holbrook earned his DVM degree at the University of Georgia.  He is a diplomate of the American College of Internal Medicine (ACVIM) – Large Animal and of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ACVSMR).  His research interests focus on infectious disease, cardiology, and sports medicine.  Actively involved in the sport of endurance, Dr. Holbrook has provided veterinary care at numerous national and international competitions.

“The addition of these two endowed positions brings the veterinary center endowed chairs and professorships to a total of 16, which is phenomenal,” says Dr. Jean Sander, Dean of the veterinary center.  “These positions provide resources to faculty members to allow them to pursue their fields of interest for the betterment of veterinary medicine and ultimately animal and human health.  We are forever grateful to our donors who make this possible.  The results of their investments are far reaching and we thank them.”
