Eighteen Oklahoma State University undergraduate students were inducted as members of Phi Beta Kappa, one of the most distinguished academic honor societies in America, during a ceremony on May 9 at Old Central.

The chapter initiated Blaine Greteman as its first alumni member among the new members. Greteman, OSU’s only recipient of the Rhodes Scholarship, delivered an address titled “The American Scholar 2.0” at the ceremony.  Greteman, from Hydro, Okla., teaches at the University of Iowa.          

Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest academic honor society in the United States and was founded in 1776 at the College of William and Mary. There are 280 chapters at American colleges with 61 active alumni associations.

Michelle Danser, from Edmond, Okla., is a communication sciences and disorders major.

Shelby Landes, from Edmond, Okla., is a communication sciences and disorders and Spanish double major.

Calvin Warner, from Edmond, Okla., is a philosophy and Spanish double major.


Walter Jackson III, from Enid, Okla., is a history major.

Ian Maloney, from Enid, Okla., is a microbiology/cell and molecular biology major.


Chelsea Artussee, from Henryetta, Okla., is a history and animal science double major.


Dylan Hames, from Lawton, Okla., is an architecture and Spanish double major.


Alex Watkins, from Okarche, Okla., is an economics major.

Baylee Butler, from Oklahoma City, is a psychology and political science double major.

Mackenzie Smith, from Oklahoma City, is a history major.


Amanda Berry, from Stillwater, is a mathematics major.

Martha Gipson, from Stillwater, Okla., is a statistics and mathematics double major.

Kathryn Shrader, from Stilllwater, Okla., is an English and German double major.

Paige Wikle, from Stillwater, Okla., is a psychology major.


Lauren Foley, from Tulsa, Okla., is a zoology major.

Shelby James, from Tulsa, Okla., is an accounting and Spanish double major.



Anna Gunther, from Wichita, Kan., is a mathematics and economics double major.



Clara Telford, from Euless, Texas, is a physiology major.
