The Remember the Ten Run Scholarship Program has named its fall 2014-spring 2015 recipients at Oklahoma State University, based on their good citizenship, high moral character and strong work ethic. The recipients, who will receive a $1,000 cash scholarship, must be enrolled in a graduate or doctoral counseling program at OSU.

This year’s recipients are Donna Ackerman, Erin Brannon, Ashley Cole, Rhiannon Dennis, Michael Dunn, Lindsey Fluhman, Sara Hills, Kerry Karaffa, Morganne Kraines, and Leigh Ridings.

Ackerman, from Tahlequah, Okla., is working on her master’s in community counseling and hopes to become a grief counselor.

Brannon, from Cincinnati, Ohio, is a third year graduate student working on her doctorate in clinical psychology and hopes to work in an academic medical center with families of children diagnosed with chronic illnesses.

Cole, from Norman, Okla., is a second year graduate student in the clinical doctoral program and works at the Laboratory for the Study of Suicide Risk and Resilience.

Dennis, from Ripley, Okla., is a first year master’s student in the counseling program and is beginning her practicum this summer in Tulsa.

Dunn, from Mustang, Okla., is a first year graduate student in the community counseling program.

Fluhman, from Clayton, N. M., is working on her master’s in school counseling and plans to work in a community agency or school setting while working with adolescents and families.

Hills is a first year counseling psychology doctoral student from Colorado, and hopes to someday provide therapeutic services in a pediatric behavioral health setting.

Karaffa, from Trenton, Texas, is a doctoral student in the counseling psychology program and hopes to provide clinical services to police officers and their families.

Kraines, from Arlington, Mass., is a first year graduate student in the clinical psychology doctoral program and is interested in researching the cognitive, interpersonal and genetic risk factors for depression.

Ridings, from London, Ky., is a clinical psychology doctoral student whose research interests include child abuse and neglect prevention.

The Remember the Ten Run Scholarship, which will be divided between the fall and spring semesters, provides financial support to these outstanding students to help meet their academic goals and further their professional development and counseling-related skills.

The Remember the Ten Run was created to honor and remember the ten who lost their lives, and the scholarship supports those who provide counseling following such tragedies as well as in other areas of life.  The scholarship committee is comprised of representatives from the Remember the Ten Run Steering Committee, University Counseling Services, OSU Athletics and the OSU Foundation.
