Oklahoma State University students, involved in Varsity Revue, presented a check for $18,000 to the Stillwater Area United Way on Thursday.

Varsity Revue, an annual production performed by sorority and fraternity pairs, raised the money through ticket sales, a silent auction and by passing collection buckets during each show. The funds will benefit Stillwater residents through a variety of services provided by the United Way.

Sheri Carter, the executive director of the Stillwater Area United Way, said she was honored to receive the contribution and looks forward to continuing to provide much needed services to Payne County residents. “It’s wonderful to see the students of OSU caring and giving back so generously to our community,” said Carter.

The executive board of Varsity Revue selected United Way for the funds based on the support and positive impact the organization has throughout the Stillwater community.

OSU students from the Greek community, student organizations and residents halls have embraced Varsity Revue as a tradition since 1929. The performances were originally started as a way to raise money for the purchase of university band uniforms.
