About 1,600 students are expected to receive diplomas as graduates of Oklahoma State University during commencement ceremonies Friday and Saturday at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater.

The Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives T.W. Shannon will offer words of encouragement at Saturday’s 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. undergraduate ceremonies. Shannon became Oklahoma’s first African-American leader of the house earlier this year. The Graduate College Commencement Ceremony is set for Friday at 7 p.m. at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The OSU Pipe Band will lead the processionals into Gallagher-Iba Arena, where candidates will be seated by college.

On Saturday, the 10:30 a.m. commencement ceremony will recognize graduates from the College of Human Sciences, College of Engineering, Architecture & Technology, and Spears School of Business. The 1:30 p.m. ceremony will recognize graduates from the College of Education, College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources, and College of Arts & Sciences.
