Oklahoma State University Architecture Professor Mohd Bilbeisi was recognized as a finalist in the prestigious Ken Roberts Memorial Delineation Competition. The KRob is considered the most senior architectural drawing competition currently in operation anywhere in the world.

“This is a significant honor for Mohd and Oklahoma State University,” said Randy Seitsinger, head of the OSU School of Architecture. “The best of the best are represented.”

Bilbeisi earned a Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Architecture from Oklahoma State. He is a licensed architect in the states of Pennsylvania and Oklahoma, and has operated Bilbeisi Architects since 1993. Professionally, he has worked at Jacobs Wyper Architects, Charles Frederick Associates and was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Architecture at the University of Oklahoma prior to being faculty at OSU.

The annual KRob competition has grown from an event that recognized hand-drawn renderings of local architects to a competition that encompasses architectural delineations made in a variety of media by students and professionals.

In its 39th year, KRob is the longest running architectural drawing competition in the world. This year six winners, three juror citations, and 21 finalists were selected from 408 entries from 29 countries including Japan, France, Australia, UK, South Korea, Russia and Brazil.

For an architect, being recognized in this competition is truly an honor. It highlights the very best in architectural design and the ability to communicate a vision.

Organized by AIA Dallas, the KRob is named in tribute to Ken Roberts, the Dallas architect who organized it. Roberts died in 1974 at age 34.

The 2013 jury was comprised of Alex Hogrefe (founder of alexhogrefe.com), sci-fi and fantasy artist Stephan Martiniere, and Perry Kulper (architect and associate professor at University of Michigan).
