Sonya Murray Anderson
Family: Husband, Jim and two sons, Zack, 17, and Tyler, 14
In town: Sonya Murray Anderson is a Republican grassroots politician; she won the primary election in August for State Representative of the 131st district. She is currently un-challenged for the general election in November. Her political goal is to be a strong, conservative voice for agriculture and to fight over-regulation on family farms and local family businesses. Sonya is an active member of several Republican organizations; she is on the Board of Directors for the Greater Ozarks Pachyderm Club, the Board of the Seventh District Missouri Republican Assembly and she is active with the Greene County Missouri Republican Women’s group. Sonya is also an enthusiastic member of Glidewell Baptist Church.
In the country: Sonya, her husband, Jim and their two homeschooled sons, Zack and Tyler, live and raise livestock on their family farm in Springfield, Mo. The farm was originally Sonya’s great grandfather’s homestead and has been in her family for over 100 years. Sonya and Jim own and operate Show Me Horses, a successful farrier service with a wide customer base. Horses are a big part of Sonya’s life; she is on the Board for the Missouri Equine Council, the Board of Directors for the Cross Roads Stock Horse Association and she is a founding member of the Multi-State Stock Horse Invitational Show.
The best part of town and country life: “I could never imagine living in the city,” Sonya laughed. She loves the privacy of farm life and the ability to raise food and livestock, while living just close enough to town to make a trip to the store convenient. With the help of her supportive family, “especially my husband,” Sonya plans to continue achieving great things – at the capitol and on the farm.
