History: An agricultural diesel service specialist, John Sellmeyer grew up on a 100-cow dairy farm in northeast Oklahoma. After graduating from OSU Tech, he met Julia, his wife, while they were both working at Tulsa Farm Equipment. In 1985, John and Julia opened John’s Tractor Works from their home. Twelve years ago, they moved to their spacious present location 3 miles east of Vinita, Okla., on Highway 60. John was the only technician in the early days, but today, there are 5 full-time technicians ready to meet the needs of their customers.
Products: John’s Tractor Works offers award-winning sales and service. John’s sells new and used tractors, all types of pasture and hay products, and zero-turn mowers. Some of the brands they offer are KIOTI, McCormick, BigDog Mowers, Bush Hog, Belltech, Vicon Hay Equipment, Durabilt Hay Equipment, KUHN, BOB-CAT Zero Turn Mowers and Zetor Tractors. They also offer diesel and gas engine rebuilding, hydraulic service, electrical service, air-conditioning service and transmission rebuilding for farm equipment. They are a certified KIOTI 5-Paw dealer, which means they achieved excellence in sales and service. Bush Hog President’s Club has commended John’s for outstanding sales and service every year since 1998. In 2011, John’s received a million-dollar dealer award from KIOTI.
Business: “We pride ourselves on being a friendly place to do business. We greet every customer at the door, and do business with a handshake. My wife and I and our staff believe in taking care of our customers whether they’re here for sales, service or parts.” John said he believes in the Sam Walton idea that “the customer is the CEO.”
