Name:  Mark Lawrence, 11, of Seymour, Mo., Webster County
Parents:  Mike and Michelle Lawrence
4-H Advisors:  Jennifer and Ryan Luallen
His home:  Mark is the fifth generation of their family to grow up on this farm.

What he does?
Mark shows Registered Shorthorns and three crossbred animals. He shows both bulls and heifers. He started showing when he was 9 years old and likes that breed because “they’re really docile and easy to handle.”

His favorite show?
Mountain Grove – it was where he got Supreme Champion Bull, his best ranking last year.

What would you like to do when you grow up?
“I want to be a large animal vet.”

What is the hardest part of showing?
“Probably getting them ready for the show because it takes about an hour for each cow and then it’s 15 minutes in the ring.” “It’s fun and you get to meet a lot of new friends. It’s fun to compete with the new friends.”

What are your goals for showing in 2011?
“I want to try to at least get the most Grand or Reserve Champions, or at least get Supreme Champion again.”
